Her Story

Headshot

Marcella Rose is an extremely versatile artist whose journey has borne her from the prairies of Minnesota to the desert of Arizona, from the mountains of the Pacific Northwest to the enchanted landscape of northern New Mexico - and now back to Minnesota's lake country. After an award-winning career in product design, she now concentrates on the creation of fine art. Her diverse talents and deep passion are manifested in beautiful works of vibrant colors, graceful lines and rich textures. While experienced in numerous media, she currently focuses on oil and mixed-media painting, sculpture and jewelry design.

Her childhood on a western Minnesota farm spawned Marcella's lifelong love of animals - a connection illuminated in her striking oil paintings and resin sculptures of horses. "I love everything about these beautiful beings - their power, their spirit, their grace - and yes, their aroma,” she says. "To me, they are among the most noble and inspiring of creatures.”

The depth of her talent and passion also shines through in Marcella's more-abstract works. A prime example is her recently created "Parallel Worlds," whose series of richly colored, multi-layered panels speak to the stages of our lives - from the joy-filled innocence of the small child to our sunset years and the approach of eternal flight.

Most recently, she has added three-dimensional painting/sculpture to her evolving portfolio, including the empowering "Transcending Duality,” which portrays a cherubic angel, golden dove on shoulder, rising through pillars of an aspen forest.

"Everything I create speaks to the beauty - and potential - life makes available to all of us," Marcella affirms. "Each of us has the capacity to forge a path of our choosing; and to me, that path is one of reflection, affirmation and enlightenment."

"My work is built upon a central theme of my own life," she states. "In Gandhi's words, 'Be the change you want to see in the world.'"
